Auburn Company Trying to get Darius Rucker in town for South Carolina Game
Verge Pipe Media is hoping Darius Rucker will head down south to the land of the Plains for their South Carolina vs. Auburn tailgate.
The local digital marketing agency has started a campaign to bring the Wagon Wheel-singing, South Carolina-loving, Hootie & the Blowfish lead singer to Auburn for the highly anticipated game on October 25th.
The company, which will also be celebrating its 4th birthday, has been running the campaign since late August and has no plans of stopping until the day of the game.
The idea for the campaign was sparked by Verge Pipe’s CEO and Founder, Don Crow, a South Carolina native and an avid fan of the Gamecocks (although he still loves his Auburn Tigers).
“This tailgate party is a great way to showcase the culture we’ve built at Verge Pipe Media, “ said Crow. “We work hard, play hard, and encourage everyone, including our clients, to have fun doing both. When I looked at the Fall calendar and AU football schedule, October 25th jumped out at me as an opportunity to combine the best of what VPM does. Plus, I think it’s got to be a little appealing to Darius to be invited to a party where all he has to do is eat, drink, and celebrate college football amongst family and friends.”
The campaign is mostly virtual, taking place on Twitter and Facebook. Hashtags such as #WeWantDarius and #BringDarius2AU and videos, infographics and blog posts are being used to try to catch the attention of the star singer and his team.
Verge Pipe Media will also be giving away five VIP passes to the tailgate, regardless of whether or not Rucker attends. Community members can enter to win by joining the campaign efforts on Twitter or Facebook.
“It’s really important that we get the community involved in this campaign,” said Addi Rogers, Verge Pipe Media’s Community Manager. “Social media has definitely made it easier to get in contact with big names like Darius Rucker, but it’s going to take more than just a few tweets for him to take our proposal seriously. That’s why we want the community to participate – the more people backing the campaign, the better.”
Although there isn’t any word on whether or not Rucker will be making an appearance at the tailgate, you can be sure that VPM is hard at work to make sure this campaign isn’t just a pipe dream, but a Verge Pipe Media reality.
