Reply To: Where were you when…
I was in the student section with a group of friends. I was texting my dad, a UGA grad and fan, who was ranting about the touchdown-that-wasn’t because he didn’t want his team to win that way. I put my phone down because I genuinely thought I was going to be sick. My stomach was churning and my heart was racing. I knew it would be okay if we lost, but I just couldn’t deal with the fact that we were going to lose because of a BS call from the refs. Everyone was chanting “It’s great to be an Auburn tiger!” and then we all went quiet. I held my breath and all I could think was, “This is it. This is it.” Marshall threw it and then I thought they blocked it. There was a split second where I thought, “It’s over. That’s the game.”
And then Louis caught it.
I started screaming incoherently. I couldn’t believe it. I think I shouted “Oh my god!” at least a hundred times. My friends and I were all hugging and jumping and screaming, and then everyone nearby was in one huge embrace. I’ve never hugged so many strangers in my life.
