Interesting Tidbits after Alabama
Just checked, 28-27 still happened. Enjoy.
- All human polls, besides the old guys' and a guy's at CFN, think Auburn is the 2nd best team in the nation: Coaches', Harris, AP.
- The computers disagree, and that's all that matters.
- Regardless of the disrespect in the human polls, and yes it is a complete shame that anyone would not put Auburn, the best team in the best conference, at #1, everyone now agrees that the Tigers will go to Glendale: CFN, ESPN, Chris Low.
- ESPN's Power Rankings, made up of the votes of every person, including Chris Low, that has thrown Auburn and Cam Newton under the bus surprisingly puts Auburn at the top this week.
- Another guy at CFN analyzes the BCS rankings and says Auburn deserves to be on top, and as long as they don't get blown out this weekend, they should stay in the top two.
- Ho-hum, another SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Cam and Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week honor for Nick.
- Once again, when they had to, the defense stood up to the challenge.
- Not sure of what you learned this past weekend? Don't worry, Chris "Twinkie" Low will tell you.
- Antoine Carter receives his first helmet sticker of the year for his stellar play in the Iron Bowl. I think he and T-Bell should have shared MVP honors.
- You know that Heisman thing? Yeah, it's wrapped up.

Interesting Tidbits during the Bye Week
Welcome back 'bits...
- It's been a semi-eventful week in regards to Cam-gate. First TMZ reported this, which somehow made an actual connection between Auburn and McGregor for some people.
- Then this was reported, without any attention given from the guys who reported the previous possible connection.
- Around the same time, we were told that Bill Bell told the NCAA that he had text messages from Kenny Rogers outlining a payment plan that Cecil Newton had requested. Well, the problem is that Bell said the text messages were on a water-damaged cell phone. Sure they were, Billy. Either way, texts or not, the claim does nothing. It's just another detail about a deal that never went down.
- As if these stories didn't have enough humor within them, Rogers's lawyer even called his client stupid.
- As I said, this is nothing new, and the Newton's lawyer reiterated yesterday that Cam knew nothing and no money ever changed hands.
- Sit back, read everything after the first post, and just laugh. Scared isn't a strong enough word for what they are.
- Why shouldn't they be scared? The NCAA, the FBI, TMZ, ESPN, and The New York Times can't bring the Tigers down, so how can Bama?
- If my team was playing a team with not one, but two players on the Walter Camp watch list, I'd be worried too.
- Apparently "dirty players" can still be named a finalist for national awards. They must understand the point of football.
- Speaking of said "dirty player", he has really stepped up this year, and won't be suspended for the Iron Bowl, which is the right move.
- Yeah, I wrote this.
Interesting Tidbits after Georgia
Ready for an off-week? I sure am, which explains the short list of 'bits today. Get over it.
- No changes in the major polls. Auburn is still #2 in all of them: BCS, Coaches', Harris, AP.
- But in polls that are not regarded as "major" in the national eyes, but are now definitely "major" in mine, Auburn is #1: Legends, CFN.
- After a one week hiatus, Auburn is back on the SEC Player of the Week list. Cam and Mike Berrryyyyyyy, Mike Berry take the honors this week.
- "Auburn sure is a fun team to watch", says a log created by a man named Dye.
- According to CFN, Auburn-Georgia was the fifth best game of last weekend.
- Here's what Richt and some of the UGA players had to say after the game.
- Despite all of the off-the-field distractions, Cam was still the same ol' Cam.
- Yeah, some of our players "threw punches", but why exactly were there so many Bulldogs on the field and not one thing was done about it? Expect more on that whole situation later today or tomorrow.
- And after all that happened, couldn't we come up with a better headline?
- Everybody in the world, well the Auburn world, is all over this blog post.
- Need SEC Championship Game information? Well first off, realize we have another game to play, and then go here.
- No Chris Low posts today. He's on the "dirty" bandwagon.
Interesting Tidbits after UT-Chattanooga
Let's do this...
- Auburn is #2 in every major poll this week: BCS, Coaches', Harris, Legends, CFN, AP. Yes, I will let the AP back in this week after they seemed to use some common sense. Also notice that Auburn is now only 0.0027 points behind Oregon in the BCS, thanks to TCU jumping the Ducks in the computer ranking.
- In ESPN's Power Rankings, Auburn got one first-place vote. That voter was none other than Mark Schlabach.
- The Tigers are still atop Chris Low's SEC Power Rankings, and Coach Dye finally moves Auburn ahead of Alabama.
- Speaking of Pat, here's his log.
- Bowl projections: Low, CFN, and Phil Steele say Auburn will play in the BCS National Championship. ESPN is split.
- As expected, no Auburn players were named a SEC Player of the Week (even though Cam had 5 touchdowns and a season high 317 passing yards in one half). However, the usual suspects were named semifinalists for some pretty heavy awards.
- More from Low: Cam gets another helmet sticker, and Auburn is carrying the banner.
- Can't you tell by this headline that they are just tired of trying to come up with other people to talk about?
- Last Friday, a guy named Thayer Evans (Thayer?!) wrote crap like this. Yesterday, he proved that it wasn't a fluke and that he actually is mentally retarded. Read those away from fragile items.
Interesting Tidbits before UTC (sCAMdal Edition)
I know what everyone wants to read about, and it is not Chattanooga, so I'll skip the normal predictions, previews, and other notes about gameday, and get right to the news of the last 12-24 hours. For those that still want some predictions, here you go: they all picked Auburn.
So is it a sCAMdal? Is it a sCAM? Well, it's both actually, and here's everything you need to know about the whole situation, along with a few personal thoughts, as it stands on this Friday afternoon.
Pat Forde, Mark Schlabach, and Chris Low posted a story on ESPN.com yesterday (it has been edited since) stating that someone (Kenny Rogers) allegedly representing Cam Newton told former Mississippi State quarterback, John Bond, that he could persuade Newton to sign with the Bulldogs following his season at Blinn College for a mere $180,000.
The story has the typical half-truth, eye-catching headline, followed by of a bunch of allegations, and resolves with quotes from Cecil Newton stating that he knows of no such request of money. You know, the stuff that matters, stick it at the bottom.
Now it looks like nobody can get in contact with Rogers, who is already under investigation for impersonating a NFLPA member. This article was found on ESPN.com, yet Forde, Schlabach, and Low either didn't care enough to do a quick search for Rogers's name, or felt like it would it take away from what they were trying to accomplish. I'm not accusing them of anything, but it seems a little fishy that they wouldn't look on their own website for more information about a guy that was a huge part of a huge "bomb" they were about to drop on the college football world.
Interesting Tidbits before Chattanooga (Midweek Ed.)
Quickly...
- If you ever wanted to ask Gene Chizik a question, here's your chance.
- Speaking of Auburn football coaches, I give you Pat Dye and his gest.
- Cam Newton is not talking about the NFL, and Gus Malzahn is not worried about other jobs, despite reports, so quit asking.
- The SEC East needs to step up. They could be ruining the West champion's chances.
- As we all saw by their halloween costumes, Auburn is having fun.
- It's easy to have fun when you have the top offensive player, the top defensive player, and the top coach all on one team.
- Say what you want about Tuberville's lack of recruiting over his last few years on the Plains, but most of the key contributors of this season were his guys.
- We know what Boise would look like against the SEC, but here's what some guys in the SEC look like against the SEC.
- Chris Low is nice this week and mentions a few other players in his Heisman list.
- Chizik talks Chattanooga.
- Auburn plays an exhibition basketball game tonight against West Alabama. I don't care who the opponent is, this is the first game in the Auburn Arena. Be there, and check the Gameday website before you go.
