At some point this season, the Auburn offense will come to life. Why not predict again, for the 5th straight week, that it will be THIS week. On paper, Auburn is the better team. However, the product on the field hasn’t matched up. I’m frustrated, you’re frustrated, let’s do this.
These are key points for the Ole Miss game…
1. Containing Jordan Ta’amu
Ole Miss QB is a fun QB to watch. He can hurt you in many ways and is a big reason that Ole Miss has won 5 games this year. Coupled with one of the best group of receivers in the nation, it’s pitch and catch for them. Jordan Ta’amu is completing 65.8% of his passes for an average of 10.35 YPA (Compared to Stidham’s 7.04 YPA). Ta’amu has 15 TDs and 5 INTs. He’s also a scrambling threat with 253 yards on the season and 4 TDs.
2. Scary Receivers
Auburn’s secondary has a problem with getting PI called against them. Some are blatantly wrong, some are the receivers doing a great job getting the PI call, and some are blatant interference calls. The secondary has their work cut out for them this week. AJ Brown leads the Rebel receiving corp with 50 catches, 650 yards (13 YPC) and 4 TDs. DK Metcalf and DaMarkus Lodge are fighting for the second best receiver and both are putting up go-to target numbers (Metcalf – 26 receptions, 569 yards (21.9 YPC), 5 TDs; Lodge – 35 receptions, 466 yards (13.3 YPC), and 2 TDs.
3. Ole Miss is a great BIG12 team.
As good as their QB and WRs are, their defense is equally bad. Sure, the Rebels have scored 70 points twice this year, however, they did give up 41 to SIU, 62 to Alabama, 45 to LSU, and 33 to Arkansas. We will see how the Auburn offense responds to a lackadaisical defense on the other side of the ball. Mississippi is 122 in total defense, 112 in rush defense, 120 in pass defense. Auburn says they’ve changed the game plan, we will see on Saturday.

Who knows what will happen on Saturday? Will the Auburn we expect to show up be in attendance? Will the defense get over their recent slump? I think both happen. I think Ole Miss scores with their dangerous receivers, but I think Ole Miss’s defensive situation is worse than Auburn’s offensive situation. Auburn wins 49-28.
