The 2012 AUHD Intro Video Collection

With Auburn’s slow start in two games away from home, it was great to get back in the friendly confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium yesterday. It felt kind of weird being three games into the season and not knowing what the intro videos for the year were, but seeing them prior to the UL-Monroe game almost made me feel like it was the first game of the season. Oh don’t I wish, but maybe it was a brand new start. Let’s hope.

The tunnel video, played while the team is still in the tunnel, and also the video that included “All I Do is Win” in 2010, uses the song “Let’s Go” by Calvin Harris featuring Ne-Yo. It’s nice. Nothing will ever compare to the 2010 version, but it does the job, I think.

The inspiration video, otherwise known as the “chillbump video,” is played just before the team lines up for the opening kickoff. It, like it’s predecessors, features a lot of old clips put to more classical/symphonic music. It’s very good.

In what Auburn Athletics calls the “Football Team Video,” which is played about 20 minutes before kickoff while the teams are still out on the field, “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida is played along to some highlights of the previous year. It’s basically just an extra little pump up video before things really start to pick up.

Prior to kickoff against ULM, Aubie was honored for winning his 7th National Championship this past spring. I’m not sure if they are playing this video for every game, but this was played last week.

The AUMB has its own video as well. I’ll post it here once they put it online. So, what do you think of the videos? Do they get you ready to run through a wall?

I will admit I was not impressed with the music for the tunnel vid. In years past it has gotten me fired up and given me chills and want to go smash things. This year, not so much.

The tunnel vid this year did not make me tear up with Auburn Pride as did last year’s and the year before. BUT I do like it. I, however, really like the kickoff video. AND I WANT THE BAND VIDEO!!!

They have too many special effects and the effects aren’t very good. Don’t get me started on the music. I was at Mississippi St. last week, and as far as content on the board goes, their stuff blows ours out of the water. And did anybody notice the board seemed to have a greenish tint. I don’t think the camera’s were calibrated correctly.

The tunnel video makes me feel like I’m at Abercrombie & Fitch. I hate Abercrombie & Fitch.

The effects and graphics have improved over the past few years, but the tunnel video music is a bit too “Top 40” sounding, not too energizing. I still say the AUMB tunnel video is ALWAYS better than the actual team one. But, none of this matters until we do a massive upgrade on the audio and video in JHS. It’s terrible.

A few thoughts about the inspiration video…. First of all, we have 11 conference championships, not just 7 (1910, 1913, 1919, 1932 should be included). They also only claim 4 “undefeated seasons,” when actually, we have 7 perfect seasons (1900, 1904, 1913, 1957, 1993, 2004, 2010).
