Video of Auburn & Vanderbilt in the 1955 Gator Bowl

This year, Auburn is playing in the Chick-fil-A Bowl (not the Gator Bowl) against Virginia (not Vanderbilt) and it’s 2011 (not 1955), but this is still a pretty cool video, as unrelated to present day as it may be. This is one of the oldest color broadcasts of any Auburn game I’ve ever seen which has helped remind me that the real world wasn’t actually in black and white back then.

The Tigers lost to Vandy 25-13 that day, which happened way too much back then, but you’ll still enjoy this. It’s like a history book happening right in front of your eyes!

Very cool! Would like to see one that’s an Auburn win though. :D

“straight on” kickers can’t get it into the endzone from the 40 on kickoffs? was there a square toe shoe involved? my guess is yes

So when did fields start using hash marks? Obviously not in 1955.
