As I tweeted earlier today, Topps Trading Cards has already released a mock version of Cam Newton’s Rookie Card. Before you begin to wonder when he had time to pose and get all sweaty and determined looking, take a look under the ball. Do you see it? The orange wrist band? Yep, Photoshop.
Was this a mistake or was this one last Easter egg from Topps to Auburn fans? I’ll say mistake. Oh well, other than that it’s a pretty dang good ‘shop job. Yeah, that’s what we call it in the biz.
I’m going to be honest. The Panther uniform doesn’t look that bad on him. What does? I still think they need to upgrade from the mid-90’s color scheme and logo, though. Anyway, just thought you might want to see this.
By the way, what exactly is a “Rookie Patch”? Is that kinda like a soul patch?

Not necessarily. They just took it from his Auburn number. Clausen said today that for now he is #2, but we’ll see what happens.
Clausen already #2 may not be available and if so not free.
“It’s mine right now,” Clausen told the Charlotte Observer. “We’ll see what happens.”

It’s a TERRIBLE PS job.
The helmet color is off, the stripes down the center aren’t the right proportion as well as the panther logo on the side of the helmet (too small)
Then the jersey:
1. the mesh isn’t cut like that at the chest plate
2. the color of the blue stripes isn’t the right shade..AND the stripes are way too small
3. the inside neck seam of the jersey is supposed to have blue outlining it…it’s totally missing.
Awful, awful PS job…and believe me, I work in post production
