2009/2010 Bowl Predictions – Week 2

You’ll notice these predictions/previews aren’t too long, but I’m typing this as I wait to go to church on Christmas Eve night. Merry Christmas.

Regular Season: 102-30 (77.3%)
Bowl Games: 6-9 (40.0%)
Overall: 108-39 (73.5%)

12/26

Little Caesars Bowl (12 p.m. ESPN)
Marshall vs. Ohio – Can anyone tell me how in the world Marshall and Ohio are playing in a bowl game? Only in a bowl named after Little Caesers. $5 Hot-N-Ready tickets available now.

Marshall is in the midst of a coaching change, so they will lose.

Ohio 27, Marshall 17

Marshall 21, Ohio 17FAILURE

Meineke Car Care Bowl (3:30 p.m. ESPN)
Pittsburgh vs. North Carolina – Pitt was literally two plays away from being 11-1. North Carolina had the media love early, but ended up being a bust. Both teams will be playing to end what could have been promising seasons on a good note. But…

Pitt is better.

Pittsburgh 38, North Carolina 16

Pittsburgh 38, North Carolina 16 SUCCESS!

Emerald Bowl (7 p.m. ESPN)
Boston College vs. USC – USC can’t be excited about this game. Boston College’s coaches are sure to be pumping the “we are playing USC” card to their players.

USC will end one of their worst seasons in recent memory on a bad note, much to the delight of the Yankee/Duke/Jeff Gordon-style haters.

Boston College 23, USC 20

USC 24, Boston College 13FAILURE

12/27

Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl (7:30 p.m. ESPN)
Kentucky vs. Clemson – C.J. Spiller runs wild on the Wildcats, mainly because I’m still confused/mad that Kentucky somehow beat Auburn.

Clemson 45, Kentucky 20

Clemson 21, Kentucky 13 SUCCESS!

12/28

Advocare V100 Independence Bowl (4 p.m. ESPN2)
Texas A&M vs. Georgia – Yeah, I want the SEC to lose this one too, for the same reason that you just read a few seconds ago.

Texas A&M 30, Georgia 7

Georgia 44, Texas A&M 20 – FAILURE

12/29

EagleBank Bowl (3:30 p.m. ESPN)
UCLA vs. Temple – Temple plays football?

UCLA 38, Temple 10

UCLA 30, Temple 21 SUCCESS!

Champs Sports Bowl (7 p.m. ESPN)
Miami vs. Wisconsin – Fun and flashy against slow and boring. Who do you think will win?

Da “U” scores six touchdowns with coke-laced footballs.

Miami 34, Wisconsin 27

Wisconsin 20, Miami 14 FAILURE

12/30

Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl (3:30 p.m. ESPN)
Bowling Green vs. Idaho – Remember what I said about Marshall vs. Ohio? Yeah, same thing here. Games like these warrant no preview at all.

Bowling Green 37, Idaho 17

Idaho 43, Bowling Green 42 FAILURE

Pacific Life Holiday Bowl (7 p.m. ESPN)
Arizona vs. Nebraska – Nebraska has to feel good even following the loss to Texas. Arizona, um…well, they they are the Wildcats.

Suh stakes his claim for the full season Heisman.

Nebraska 17, Arizona 7

Nebraska 33, Arizona 0 SUCCESS!

12/31

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl (11 a.m. ESPN)
Houston vs. Air Force – Houston will be throwing bombs all night. No pun intended.

Houston 41, Air Force 24

Brut Sun Bowl (1 p.m. CBS)
Oklahoma vs. Stanford – Gerhardt tells the Heisman to suck it, and runs for 350. Oklahoma really wants this year to be over.

Stanford 35, Oklahoma 20

Texas Bowl (2:30 p.m. ESPN)
Navy vs. Missouri – I honestly don’t remember anything about Missouri from this year. I remember Navy struggling against Army. Coin flip…..Navy.

Navy 24, Missouri 20

Insight Bowl (5 p.m. NFL Network)
Minnesota vs. Iowa State – Gene Chizik’s recruits win a bowl game for Paul Rhodes.

Iowa State 21, Minnesota 14

Chick-fil-a Bowl (6:30 p.m. ESPN)
Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee – Virginia Tech started the season in the Georgia Dome. As we all know, they held the lead against Alabama going into the 4th quarter before losing it late. This year, they end their season in the Georgia Dome as well. They will have more success against the Vols.

Virginia Tech 28, Tennessee 20

Wow, I picked the SEC to go 0-3 in this week. I really do want the SEC to succeed in most cases that are not related to the team with the most fans that never went to high school, but I just don’t see the SEC faring too well this week.

All times are CST.
