Montez Billings Leaves Football Team

Montez Billings has decided to leave the football team. From al.com:

Senior wide receiver Montez Billings has left the Auburn football team for personal reasons, the school announced Friday.

Billings missed the first two games of the season while serving a four-game suspension imposed on him by the NCAA over an academic issue. The former Pelham High School standout started 11 games last season, finishing with 24 catches for 277 yards. He was the Tigers’ leading returning receiver.
Billings graduated last May.

“Montez has his degree and has decided to leave the Auburn football team to pursue other opportunities,” Auburn coach Gene Chizik said in a statement. “We appreciate what he gave to the football program during his career.”

He leaves Auburn with 55 catches for 645 yards and one touchdown.

That hurts – but others have stepped up so far, and Todd is MUCH improved under the coaching of the new staff, so the Tigers should be O.K.
